Town
Some evenings, Yaletown just breaks into song. Vancity Hot Jazz Society sets up in Bill Curtis Square for live jazz, swing, and enough room for everyone (kids included) to find their groove.
Where: Bill Curtis Square
When: Friday, August 14 | 5:30–7:30PM
Who: Josh Roberts Orchestra
Long a favourite with swing dancers, Josh Roberts leads a 10-piece big band with a fresh take on 1930s and 1940s music. Featuring boisterous horns and driving rhythm, the sound draws on Jimmie Lunceford, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Chick Webb, and Duke Ellington. Josh's projects, from duos to a 13-piece big band, have played events including Camp Jitterbug, the Northwest Balboa Festival, and Vancouver's own LindyBloom.
BYOB welcome for the grown-ups.
