Let's Hear it For Yaletown

Some evenings, Yaletown just breaks into song. Vancity Hot Jazz Society sets up in Bill Curtis Square for live jazz, swing, and enough room for everyone (kids included) to find their groove.

Who: Dean Thiessen

Dean Thiessen is a jazz pianist, composer, and bandleader. His band, Dean Thiessen and the Good Apples, draws on giants like Nat "King" Cole, Duke Ellington, Red Garland, and Oscar Peterson to create rhythmically driven, melodically catchy music for the city's swing dance community. The band is grateful to be inspired by a Black American art form built on resilience, joy, and creativity.

BYOB welcome for the grown-ups.
